Wuilfred Duayk López Arroyo was born in Villa Nueva, Guatemala, August
10th, 1975.
At the age of four his family moved to Jocotenango, a town close to La
Antigua Guatemala, which began his exposure and close relationship with
artists to whom the city is a source of inspiration. He discovered very
young his love for drawing and painting and began a quiet career of
portraitist, beginning at the age of 14 with the portrait of a family
member and then with various close friends and family.
He participated in his first exhibition in 1993, when a group of artists
invited him to join them, and from there he has participated in several
group exhibitions.
Beginning his preparations to serve a full-time mission for his
religion, he decided to make use of his experience and painted several
oil paintings, between the ages of 17 and 19 years with religious
motives from the Catholic church, which would allow him to partially
cover the costs of said mission.
Upon his return, two years later, he began his univeristy studies in the
year 1997 and entered the Faculty of Architecture of the University of
San Carlos de Guatemala. During this time he frequently used pencil
techniques for his architectural presentations, while also discovering
other techniques, both wet and dry. He graduated from architecture in
the year 2005.
Currently he has painted as a career for about 35 years as well as
having several exhibitions and private collection sales, both within
Guatemala and without. Additionally, he has been selected to paint
paintings for many of the temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, which has been a great challenge and privilege due to
the high standards of quality that are maintained within said entity.
